Project Overview
GreenTech runs a three-floor office for 400 staff, and daytime air-conditioning drove brutal demand charges. Brightfield designed a 500 kW rooftop array with east-west orientation to flatten the midday peak — plus live dashboards in the lobby showing savings in real time.
The Challenge
Limited flat roof space, strict fire-lane setbacks, and a board that needed payback under six years. The old roof membrane also needed reinforcement before it could carry a single panel.
Our Approach
We used high-wattage bifacial modules on ballasted east-west racks to squeeze 500 kW from the available footprint, reinforced the membrane zones first, and staged the install over four weekends so the office never closed.
Results & Outcome
Energy expenses fell 50% in year one — 320 tons of CO2 avoided annually — with payback tracking at 5.4 years. Staff now compete over the lobby leaderboard for the greenest floor.
