Smartville Residence: Sustainable Living for Families

Rooftop solar panels on suburban family homes

Project Overview

Smartville is a 120-home community where summer bills regularly topped $300. Working with the residents’ association, Brightfield rolled out standardised 5 kW rooftop kits home by home — with group pricing that cut per-home cost by 18%.

The Challenge

Different roof angles, mixed shading from mature trees, and 120 individual decisions to coordinate. The project needed one design that flexed per home without ballooning cost.

Our Approach

Three kit templates covered every roof type. Households booked through a shared calendar, installs ran street by street, and a community dashboard lets neighbours compare output (friendly rivalry included).

Results & Outcome

Average household savings of $1,200 per year, with the sunniest street averaging $1,650. The association now funds its playground upkeep from shared surplus credits.
